New Book!

Sorry for the hiatus—my husband and I had a baby in December, and our lives have been turned upside down in the best way possible. Nothing could have prepared us for the sleep deprivation that comes with having a newborn, but our son is amazing, and after a few months we’re finally starting to get our feet under us again. That means it’s back to work!

Along those lines, I am thrilled to announce that I am working with food blogger Heather Connell (multiplydelicious.com) on a book tentatively titled Powerful Paleo Superfoods: The Best Primal‐Friendly Foods for Burning Fat, Building Muscle, and Achieving Optimal Health. Heather has a pretty dramatic story about how switching to a Paleo diet helped improve some health conditions she’d been struggling with—so much so that her doctors almost didn’t believe that all she’d done was change how she ate! We both firmly believe that nutrition plays a huge (and often overlooked) role in your health. And we’re passionate about helping others understand that connection and make smarter choices to feel better and live longer.

I’ve never co-authored anything before, but I think Heather and I are going to make a good team. I bring my 10+ years of experience writing about health and nutrition to the table, while Heather will provide the Paleo focus and a delicious recipe for each of the 50 superfoods we cover (she’s also doing the photography, which looks amazing so far!). The book is scheduled to release in spring 2014 from Fair Winds Press, but our deadline for the first draft of the manuscript is July 1. We’re already hard at work on the first few entries—our editor has requested three of them by April 15 so she can put together what’s called a BLAD (for Book Layout and Design). To me, seeing the design is when a project starts to feel like a real book, so that’s an exciting step. Then we have a few more intermediary deadlines before the whole manuscript is due. Stay tuned for more updates as we go along!
